Owabe things
Where are the
Owabe ga! gan! gangs!?
😂 Interestingly, I'm not typically one to dress up and attend parties, but this weekend I decided to venture out. The weather seemed determined to discourage me – a typical day for me would have meant crawling back into bed – but I chose to brave it, and thankfully, it didn't rain until I arrived at the party venue. It wasn't a large gathering, and I was grateful that it wasn't too crowded; somehow, I had a feeling it wouldn't be. Just as I arrived, it started raining, even before the party officially began! The canopy was in disrepair, and I wondered why the owner still leased it out or why the couple would agree to host an event under such conditions. With the rain pouring down, we all sought shelter in the bride's parent's spacious sitting room, which was fortunately empty at the time. Eventually, the rain stopped, and the party commenced. The food was delicious, there is smoked Jollof rice and Fried Rice being the highlights. As a Yoruba lady, I collected a wrap of Semo and vegetable which was delightful. I ended up eating some of the rice and chicken as well, since I had ordered for my daughter who didn't eat much. I had to pace myself to avoid needing to excuse myself to the restroom 😂😂.
However, the real excitement didn't come from the party itself, but from the bus ride home. I boarded a Blue BRT, and the driver was reckless, prompting some of the typical Lagos passengers to shout at him. The driver's response was, "Don't they want to see Jesus?" – which, in Yoruba, sounded quite amusing that is my native dialect. Some passengers responded that they didn't want to see Jesus, to which the driver retorted, "They don't love Jesus like they claim." The passengers defended themselves, saying they'd see Jesus eventually, but not at that moment. This exchange got me thinking: are people truly prepared to meet Jesus, even when they're lying on their deathbeds? If so, why do they seem unprepared? Perhaps it's because they lack the assurance of Eternity, or Salvation. Some might argue that loved ones on earth would miss them, but is that truly comparable to the joy that awaits in the afterlife?
I believe Whether we're alive or dead, our purpose is to Glorify God."
